Daves music has been described as “A bit like Pink Floyd on Surfboards“!

A guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, his principal instrument is the Chapman Stick. Invented by Emmett Chapman in the early 1970’s, the Stick is a combined guitar & bass instrument played by tapping the strings, enabling the two hands to play independent or interlocking parts simultaneously.

Dave’s atmospheric instrumentals are used in film, contemporary dance  and his own multi-media performances. His focus is to tell stories through instrumental soundtracks.

A keen surfer, his music is inspired by the Ocean, surfing, the natural world and the need to care for our environment. Having spent many years filming in ocean surroundings, his live performances often incorporate on-stage projection of his video work synchronised to the music.

Dave studied composition for media at the Institute of Music & Technology in London, and film production at OFVM in Oxford. His music studies have included Guitar Craft courses with Robert Fripp, the E-Tap European Tap Guitar Seminars in Belgium, numerous Stick workshops and seminars, and the Touch Guitar Circle in Austria.

He performs his music internationally with Bowmer Holmes, a Chapman Stick & percussion duo featuring the percussion skills of David Holmes.
